Unlearning Studies

Unlearning Studies grew out of a design charrette that began with gathering discarded furniture and household objects, then reassembling them into new creations.

The project set out to question who and what is considered part of the discipline of design. By restricting our material palette and relying on intuition rather than convention, we aimed to unlearn ingrained Western design ideals absorbed through our education. This process of making without predetermined rules allowed us to search for an emergent design language, one revealed only when the parameters of traditional frameworks were set aside.
